Where to Go: Chelsea Edition!

Where to Go: 
Take a stroll along 10th avenue and spend your day viewing the latest artworks from some of the biggest names in art, FREE!

What to Do:
On Sundays, catch the comedians doing improv comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade for FREE. Make sure you arrive early, because lines build up fast!
Where to Eat:
Treat yourself to some yummy baked goodness at Eleni's New York (75 Ninth Avenue).

Where to Go: Harlem, Manhattan Edition!

Where to Go: Lenox Lounge, 288 Lenox Avenue (2 or 3 train).

What to Do: Make a visit to the historic Lenox Lounge on a Wednesday or Thursday night in which jazz and blues music flows through the venue, and when admission is either free or only $5!





   

Where to Eat: Grab a seat at Amy Ruth's  (113 W. 116th street) and enjoy the delicious wonders of authentic southern cuisine.

Where to Go: Park Slope, Brooklyn Edition!

Park slope is arguably the most popular neighborhood in Brooklyn. With its signature brown-stone homes, array of cozy restaurants, and various musical venues, it is easy to see why its reputation has prevailed throughout the years.

 

Where to go: South Paw- located on 125 Fifth Ave between Sterling and St. Johns Place- is the largest musical venue with hosting hip-hop artists, blue grass jams, and various indie-bands.


What to do: Spend a day watching sea lion feedings and laugh with baboons at the Prospect Park zoo! $8 for admission,10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., daily.
Where to eat: Rose Water, found on 787 Union St. A neighborhood favorite. Brunch on a weekend might include their famous lemon crepes. For dinner, try some of their Mediterranean inspired-dishes such as their baked polenta.

Where to go, Jackson Heights Edition!

Where to Go:Take a walk to Travers Park (34 Ave. Bet. 77 St. And 78 St.).
What to Do: Upon arrival in Travers Park, come and shop for fresh grown fruits and vegetables at the farmers market.
Where to Eat: Try dinner at El Coyote on Northern Boulevard (80-18 Northern Blvd). As you enjoy your Mexican cuisine, mariachis come to your table and serenade you with a tune.

Where to Go: Chinatown, Manhattan Edition!

Where to Go: At Columbus Park, you can often catch the elderly Chinese locals playing a game of chess, practicing Tai-Chi,  or occasionally catch them singing a traditional Chinese opera.


What to Do: Looking beyond the endless row of imitation designer handbags that lines Canal street, you can also find great gifts and souvenirs, (and may even be able to bargain for a better price!)
Where to Eat: Try the soup dumplings at Joes' Shanghai (9 Pell Street, New York, New York 10013).

Where to Go: Red Hook, Brooklyn Edition!

Where to Go: Take the water taxi to Red Hook, Brooklyn! They will drop you off right in front of the home-shopping center.

What to Do: Go to IKEA! [1 Beard St
Brooklyn, New York 11231 (718) 246-4532 ] Although it may seem surprising, you could very easily spend an entire day at IKEA and spend VERY LITTLE money. Beyond shopping, you can often catch people fishing on the pier that the water taxi drops you off.

Where to Eat: At IKEA's cafeteria:
Monday: Quarter roasted chicken served with 2 sides and a soda or bottled water for $4.99.
Tuesday: Regular meatball dinner for $2.49 from 4-8:30 pm
Wednesday: Rib night at IKEA! B.B.Q half rack of pork ribs with fries and cornbread for $7.99 (served all day long)
Thursday: Quarter roasted chicken served with mash potatoes and gravy for only $1.99 (no substitutes)
Friday: Dozen B.B.Q. chicken wings with blue cheese dressing for $5.99

Where to Go, Long Island City Edition!

What to Do: The Water Taxi Beach hosts 21+  dance parties, right on the beach with a great view of the Manhattan Skyline.

Where to Go: Socrates Sculpture Park has a beautiful garden and is also a popular venue for artists to set up their exhibits for the public to view.


Where to Eat : Kabab Cafe, (25-12 Steinway St) is a tiny Egyptian cafe that has been in business since 1989.

What to do: The farmer's market offers a variety of different artwork, organic food, and cool souvenirs.

Where to go: ABC Home (19th street & Broadway) is an amazing store to see, offering beautiful ideas for decorating your home.

What to Eat: Pipa, located right next to ABC Home (38 East 19th St, between Broadway & Park Ave S) offers great ambiance, and even better tapas!

Where to Go: Bay Ridge, Brooklyn Edition!

Up for an adventure? Take a ride on the Brooklyn-bound R train and head all the way south to a town that few native New Yorkers are familiar with.

Bay Ridge is a small community known best for it's view of the Verrazano Bridge.

WHERE to go: On 3rd avenue, you will find the endless family owned boutiques and restaurants that give Bay Ridge it's charm. Our featured favorite is ZEN.  
 
ZEN (7609 3rd ave) has been a neighborhood's favorite for nearly 3 decades. They are famous for their beautiful jewelry, silk flowers, and YANKEE candle assortment.

What to do: On 86th street you will find a bunch of shops, including Century 21 for designer discount shopping, and the GAP.

What to eat: Grab a seat outside and try the house salad (with their homemade vinaigrette) and cannoli at Paneantico Bakery.
