Governors Island
August 18th
11am-3pm
Meet
in front of Midtown NYLC (226 West 37th Street) at 11am.
From there, we’ll take the downtown 1 train to South Ferry in Manhattan and then
take the ferry (free!) to Governors Island (5-10 minute ferry ride). Governors Island has a
really interesting history. It used to be a US Coast Guard base, and was only
opened to the public 8 years ago. You can still see former military buildings
there.
On the island,
you can enjoy a free vintage baseball game, rent bicycles ($15/2h), listen to a
jazz concert, eat delicious food and coffee, and enjoy the views of Manhattan.
