NYLC Group Activities- Abyssinian Baptist Church!

Abyssinian
Baptist Church
Sunday, April 3rd
Experience a gospel church service in the heart of Harlem!

Founded in 1808, the Abyssinian Baptist Church is among the most famous of the many churches in Harlem. It was an important location for non-secular music in the Harlem Renaissance, and remains a center for the Harlem gospel tradition. Today the church is a vital political, social, and religious institution in New York.

Meet Adriane at 10:00am on the corner of 135th Street and Lenox Avenue in Harlem, Manhattan (near the 135th Street stop on the 2/3 trains). From there, we’ll walk to the church at 132 Odell Clark Place (West 138th Street). Everyone must be at the church before 10:30am. The service starts at 11am and will last until at least 1:00pm.

Cost: $5 deposit to reserve (returned on April 3rd), $3 suggested donation to the church

Email activities@nylanguagecenter.com or speak with Adriane or Cassandra at Midtown NYLC (1-212-268-6500) for more details and to sign up for this activity. There is limited availability.
